Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to close some lanes of Old Georgetown Road (MD 187) near NIH and West Cedar Lane for two weekends: July 28-31 and August 4-7.

Beginning Friday night, July 28, at 8 p.m., SHA will close two lanes on northbound and southbound MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) from Johnson Avenue to Sonoma Road for an ongoing construction project, the BRAC-related Intersection Improvement Project at MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) @ West Cedar Lane.  Weather and progress permitting, all lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday July 31.

The lane closures will be used to construct roadway bus pads (the concrete directly in front of a bus stop).   All lanes will remain closed for the safety of work crews and to allow concrete time to cure (dry).

Crews will repeat the lane closures the following Friday, August 4, at 8 p.m. for additional bus pad construction.  All lanes will reopen no later than 5 a.m. the following Monday, August 7.  Motorists should add extra commute time and use alternate routes.  Equipment used for construction may be disruptive.
